Buddy Pack Sunday: Save 6000

Mar 18, 2012

As you’ve heard, costs for the Buddy Pack program have risen dramatically and the need for funding has never been greater. The program may have to be severely cut back or at worse eliminated due to rising costs. Since funding is already on pace for the program in Boone and Cole counties, children in those counties will most likely not be affected. But that leaves 6,000 students in 30 other counties who rely on the program. So a movement is being started in central Missouri called SAVE 6000!

Subway Restaurants is participating in a region-wide, one-day fundraiser on March 18th, called Buddy Pack Sunday!  The point is to invite everybody to eat out on Buddy Pack Sunday to save the program at The Food Bank. A total of 35 area Subways have agreed to participate by having Food Bank collection jars in-store and donating $1 per sub and 25 cents per large drink.

Also, to help spread the word about SAVE 6000! some of the sororities and fraternities at MIZZOU are making SAVE 6000! wristbands. They will gladly give you one to wear and one to pass on to every one of your friends who joins the movement. The point is to unite, spread the word, and have people commit to the cause.
