Food bank holds dumpster dive for ‘Float your Boat’ race

COLUMBIA —The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri is hosting a dumpster dive for the teams participating in the “Float Your Boat for The Food Bank” boat race.

The dumpster dive is a kickoff event for the teams competing in the boat race April 21 at Philips Lake. The boats in the race will be made of cardboard. During the dumpster dive, the teams will be able to dig through the food bank’s recycling to find the materials needed for their boats.

What: Dumpster Dive for the “Float Your Boat for The Food Bank” event

When: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5

Where: The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, 2101 Vandiver Drive

Why: So the teams participating in the cardboard regatta boat race can find supplies.



The boat race proceeds will be donated to the food bank, according to a news release.

Online registration for the event is closed because there are already 21 boats registered, but people who still want to participate can call the food bank at 573-474-1020.

The dumpster dive will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, 2101 Vandiver Drive.
