Secret Ingredient, a 210-page hardcover cookbook featuring Columbia-area chefs, serious amateur cooks and weekend foodies, is a project to support The Food Bank’s Buddy Pack Program.
Proceeds from each cookbook will go directly to the acclaimed Buddy Pack program, which sends supplemental weekend food home each in a backpack with young students identified as being food-insecure. This means the youngsters don’t know where their weekend meals will come from — or even if food will be available to them.
Beautifully illustrated with photographs of the featured dishes and the recipe author/creator, this book is a must-have. Just the features on each contributor alone are well worth reading, not to mention the recipes for everything from exotic beverages to old family tried-and-true dishes.
Cookbooks are $30 if picked up at Food Bank, $35 if ordered online.
