Become a Ballard Buddy

Ballard1.jpg

Behind the Ballard name

Marion and Shirley Ballard dedicated themselves to helping end hunger by volunteering at The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri almost every week for over a decade.

Our new youth leadership program carries their name because we hope the students will become like the Ballards — dedicated civic leaders who understand the importance of fighting hunger in our community.

Fight hunger in your community

The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri has started The Ballard Buddy Youth Leadership Program to give students aged 14-18 years an opportunity to become involved in the mission to stop hunger in our community. Its inaugural year runs from June 2019 to April 2020. We’re looking for leaders. Join us.

Expectations

As part of the program, participants will:

  • Volunteer 81 hours in a year.

  • Organize and lead children at a Kids Helping Kids Day.

  • Participate in one educational event a semester.

  • Participate in the five most common volunteer opportunities at The Food Bank, like working at a special event.

Opportunities

The volunteer opportunities for students are:

  • Plan a food and fund drive with a fellow leader in your own creative way.

  • Attend activities involving The Food Bank.

  • The chance to work with and meet leaders in the community.

  • Participate in an award and recognition ceremony.
