what is farm & field?
Farm & Field engages a local network of farms to partner with The Food Bank in feeding families facing hunger through donations of fresh produce and protein. The Food Bank strives to make it easy for farmers to donate produce and livestock to those in our community who need a little extra help.
With a rich agricultural industry and farmland that covers 2/3 of the state, it’s not a stretch to say Missourians are good at feeding people. Your donation can help us supply good, nutritious food to food insecure communities across our 32-county service area - whenever and wherever it’s needed most
things to consider
Meat Processing
- Donated livestock must be processed at a USDA or state inspected facility. If already processed or if you are unsure if a facility meets standards, contact us! We’re happy to help work through next steps.
- The Food Bank can arrange for pickup from the facility.
- At times, The Food Bank can help find processing at a reduced cost or another donor who can supplement the cost.
Fresh, Perishable Items
- The Food Bank may be able to provide pickup using refrigerated equipment, and we are able to accept large, palleted donations of items that need refrigerated and frozen storage.
- Our team can take items that are misshapen, blemished and/or close to expiration since we move product quickly through our network of 145 partner agencies, like pantries and soup kitchens.
Incentives
Support with processing fees and pickup may be available. The Food Bank will provide a donation receipt that includes the total pounds donated which can be used for tax purposes.
