ELIGIBILITY

If you live in Boone County and need food assistance, you are welcome to visit The Market. While we will ask for your name, address, birthdate, household income and some other basic information, no paperwork is required. A form of ID and a list of names and birthdates of household members can keep intake quick, but they are not necessary. The Market respects your privacy and will not sell or share your personal information.

Shopping process

Each guest shares their household size and receives a color-coded shopping list that indicates how many items they can choose from each food category. The shopping floor is color-coded and perishable items are labeled based on stock. Team members help bag groceries and are available during shopping in case there are questions. If possible, we ask you bring your own bags to help reduce waste and allow us to save bags for neighbors who don’t have another option. Groceries are always shared at no cost.

Sharing Room

The Sharing Room offers perishable items to anyone without check in whenever The Market is open. Use the Sharing Room in between shops or whenever you need food, but please take only what your household can use.

Other Help

Beyond shopping, you may be able to access other special programs to support a healthy lifestyle:

  • Market2Meal offers food tastings and recipes to boost your food prep and nutrition know-how.
  • Resource Navigation connects you with a trusted staff member who can help you find community resources to meet your needs.
